5 Tips to Reduce Damage While Starting a Skincare Routine: 

  • When using retinol, use sunscreen: Retinol products speed up your skin cell turnover, so use sunscreen to protect those new cells that you’re producing. 
  • Find the right Vitamin C: This item can easily be an unstable ingredient in cheaper skincare items and potentially harm the skin. Typically, people use this product to produce collagen, tighten or brighten the skin, and reduce dark spots. When looking for a suitable Vitamin C, make sure it is encapsulated, time-released, and stabilized in the product you choose. If you are already using Vitamin C, combining it with sunscreen use is also incredibly important. 
  • If you use sunscreen, use a cleanser to remove it: Remove this item with an oil-based cleanser that’s designed to take off sunscreen. Using sunscreen without washing it all off causes a barrier which may lead to breakouts. 
  • Follow the instructions on all skincare products: There is a reason why the timestamps and directions are on all products. Not following instructions can lead to more harm. 
  • Work with a professional: Certain skincare ingredients cannot be used together. Sometimes when items are combined, that can cause a chemical reaction that might harm your skin.
