Vegan Gluten Free Caramel Sauce Alternative

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups Organic Pitted Dates
  • 8-10 drops Vanilla Stevia Drops
  • 1 cup Purified Water
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 1 tbs Almond Butter (optional – topping for Rice Cake)

Instructions

Makes approximately 40 servings at 1 tbs each.

Soak the organic dates in purified water for about 1 hour. Transfer only the organic dates into a blender and add two tablespoons of the water which was used to soak the dates. Add the stevia drops and vanilla, and blend until the mixture is smooth, slowly add a bit more of the water if consistency is not reached. Remove from the blender and add to toast as a jam, to smoothies or on top of rice cakes along with almond butter. The caramel sauce can be stored for about 3 weeks to 1 month in the fridge.

*Be sure to eat in moderation as dates are a natural laxative. Do not exceed 2 tbs a day.

Benefits:

Dates are very nutrient rich and are especially high in fibre. Fibre is said to help your digestive system function optimally. Dates are also high in antioxidants which are said to help slow down the aging process of the skin.
